ADOPT
A FRIEND FOR LIFE: 
Visit the St.
Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation’s adoption centers located at Cole Bay
Veterinary Hospital and Animal Hospital of the Netherlands Antilles to find the
perfect pet.
The
Foundation charges an adoption fee of $50.00 US that covers the mandatory
sterilization operation. In addition, the veterinarians will charge a fee for
medical treatment needed to ensure a
healthy pet (fee will vary depending upon the animal’s age and health).
Visitors
may also adopt an animal in St. Maarten and take it home with them. Usually, all
that’s needed is a health certificate from one of the local veterinarians, a
travel crate (may be purchased at
one of the vet hospitals or pet stores on island) and a plane reservation
(prices and restrictions vary
so please check with your airline). A St. Maarten “COCONUT RETREIVER” will
be a loyal friend for life!
