CARE ENOUGH TO GET INVOLVED

There are many ways you can help the St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation.

SPONSORING:

All of our humane education programs and the services we provide for animals are funded entirely by donations. Because you love animals, we know you will be interested in joining us as a sponsor. Your gift in any amount will make a lifesaving
difference. Please open your heart to the animals by mailing your check made out to the Foundation to:

                                                  Philipsburg, St. Maarten
                                                    Netherlands Antilles

VOLUNTEERING:

The St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation relies upon volunteers to perform all of the services that better the lives of the animals and people in our community.

As a volunteer, you may choose any of the following areas to lend a helping hand.

ADOPTION CENTERS:

The St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation supports two adoption centers on the Dutch-side of the island.

            Responsibilities at the centers are:

- Giving food, water and treats to the animals.

          - Exercising and playing with the puppies/dogs, cats/kittens.

          - Cleaning the animal cages and adoption rooms.

          - Bathing and brushing the animals.

          - Assisting the public with the adoption process.

          - Giving the animals lots and lots of TLC.

Volunteers work a 3 to 4 hour shift per week (morning or afternoon shifts available).

ANIMAL CONTROL VAN:

The St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation serves the community with a team of volunteers who:

            - Collect sick, injured, stray, unwanted or feral animals.

            - Provide free taxi service to local veterinary hospitals for residents without                        transportation.

   - Gives free mange injections for residents who would not otherwise be able to provide      treatment for their pets.

    - Visits public and private schools to explain the team’s services and heighten students’       awareness of active, responsible pet ownership.

Volunteers work a 3 to 4 hour shift per week (morning or afternoon shifts available).

EDUCATION COMMITTEE:

The St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation volunteers will assist in fostering humane attitudes by presenting programs to public and private schools and to the community. It is because so many animals are in need that we must reach as many persons  as possible.

Volunteers will usually be needed during school hours but hours may vary.

SPECIAL EVENTS / FUNDRAISING:

The St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation depends heavily upon special events to support its many programs and services as well as to provide public awareness on the Foundation’s cause.

Volunteer responsibilities may include:

- Assisting with coordination of event.

- Assisting on event day.

- Assisting with a variety of duties related to each event.

Volunteer hours vary with each event.
